ICT Major Factor To Success In Anti- Corruption War, Insecurity – SGF

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal has attributed the success of the Federal government’s war against corruption, insecurity and insurgency to the acquisition and deployment of ICT skills by the government.
Speaking at the signing of MOU between the federal government and Huawei technology in Abuja on Tuesday, he said ICT is a major employment enabler and wealth generator for unemployed youths.
The SGF pointed out that ICT skills have helped the government expose and track fraudulent activities and strategies of government saboteurs in its efforts to rid the country of corruption and insecurity.
He remarked that the government is keen to develop ICT skills of Nigerians and commended Huawei as a global player in the ICT industry while expressing confidence that the steps the government has taken by signing the MOU will be beneficial to the country in the long run.
Lawal also disclosed that a group of young and talented Federal government employees, who are professionals in ICT will undertake a 2 week training programme in China, courtesy of Huawei.
He said” I want to commend the company for establishing this ICT training programme since 2008, as a flagship corporate social responsibility. This is because, today, we are all living witness to the role that ICT plays in our daily lives.
“The Nigerian government recognises the acquisition and deployment of ICT skills as a major contributor to the success so far achieved in its ongoing fight against corruption, insecurity and insurgency.
“It is also a major employment enabler and wealth generator for the teeming masses of unemployed Nigerian youths.
“I therefore wish to assure Huawei of the government’s unflinching support for the success of this programme and the government is indeed very grateful, He stated “.
On his part, Qin Jian, Charge D’ Affairs of the Chinese Embassy said China is committed to preferentially supporting Nigeria in breaking three bottlenecks that hamper Nigeria ‘s industrialisation and agricultural modernisation including lagging infrastructure, shortage of professionals and lack of finabce.
He expressed confidence that despite dwindling global oil price and it’s impact on Nigerian economy, the people and  Nigerian government will give full play to its resilience, evolve it’s great potentials in ample natural and human resources into growth and development.
He also disclosed that in 2015, China – Nigeria trade volume reached 14.9 million USD,, China stock investment in Nigeria exceeded 12 billion USD.
