In commemoration of Nelson Mandela International Day, the South African High Commission in Abuja in partnership with Nelson Mandela Institution, Fountain of Joy and Comfort Foundation and other will launch a 67-minute community work, today,.
The 67-minute, represents one minute for every year Mandela gave to his struggle for equality for the South African people.
Other activities outlined for in honour of the late former South African president include handover of a block of six classrooms, football match and book reading at the New Kuchingoro IDPs camp in Abuja.
The South African High Commissioner, LLA Mnguni and the representatives of other local partners will be part of the officials to unveil the programme and will make other donations such as drinking water, food items, clothing, generators among others.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the South African High Commission and its partners have adopted the donation of a Skills Development Centre, in which people in the IDP camps, particularly the youth, would be taught tailoring, sewing, beadwork, woodwork, welding, painting, arts and craft etc. to enhance their skills and use the same to earn a living.
The late global leader ones said, “For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”
